The Ball  (PC)

 Review by DeViLzzz (9/12/2014)

This game is everything I thought it would be. It has dated graphics even maybe for a game released in 2010 but definitely it is not hard on the eyes. The puzzles are fun and challenging enough to say it is a worthwhile addition to the puzzle genre of games out there. The sound track definitely fits the mood of the game and is something I never shut off. Now if you are looking for exciting instant action COD/BF combat in a game look elsewhere as this does not offer that but it does offer interesting combat in that you use the ball you have with your gravity gun to roll over creatures to kill them or for larger creatures you hit them as hard as you can with it and do whatever damage you can with it. There are also other things you can do to the ball or the game itself does to the ball that make it more lethal.  Still much of the combat also involves strategy and thought as the game is puzzle like throughout.  So far I have only tried the regular game mode and have yet to try the survival mode but I can say if you just bought this for the regular game mode alone it is well worth it. The ending of the game also had me shocked. I definitely wasn't expecting that sort of ending and it was welcome. I can also say that the ending like much other parts of the game had wonderful computer generated/game engine made moments in it. The presentation was outstanding.
In regards to reviews IGN gave this game a 70 out 100 and PC Gamer gave it an 81 out of 100.  Overall the Metascore was 68 from professional reviewers.  As for the just the average Joe rating this game well the ratings are all over the place in terms of how good or bad The Ball was.  With that said for me based on my experience with the game I feel it is everything it sets out to be and is worthwhile for anyone to play that likes puzzle games with a bit of action mixed in too. I will not give it a numerical score in this review or any review in the future as I just think it isn't needed.
